Jin Kwei Lo Puppetry Company

Spanning three generations, Jin Kwei Lo Puppetry Company seamlessly bridges tradition and modernity, celebrating the enduring magic of puppetry that transcends both time and space!

Jin Kwei Lo Puppetry Company masterfully bridges tradition and modernity, celebrating the timeless art of Budaixi, Taiwanese traditional glove puppetry, across three generations. Founded in 1949 by KO CHIANG Szu-Mei, a trailblazing female puppeteer, the company’s legacy continues through her son, KO Chia-tsai, and grandsons, KO Shih-hung and KO Shih-hua.

From temple fairs to prestigious global stages, Jin Kwei Lo is dedicated to preserving this art form while embracing innovation through interdisciplinary collaborations. Their exceptional creativity has garnered significant acclaim, including two “Best Theatrical Performance” awards at Taiwan’s Golden Melody Awards for Traditional Arts and Music for The Soup of Reincarnation (2018) and Harmony in a Meal (2022).
